Another argument, another fight,
Another regret buried deep inside.
I face you each day with a defiant stare,
Yet every night, I muffle my cries.
More harsh words meant only to hurt,
I purposely do what I know you hate.
I face you each day without a care in the world,
Yet every night, I return to my broken state.
One day, for sure, the pain will fade,
I promise you, I will treat you right,
But for now all I can do is whisper “I’m sorry”,
As you sleep on through the night.

My submission to Day 2 of NaPoWriMo. Prompt today was a family portrait poem. This is my spin on it.
I’m a few days behind; punctuality is a fickle friend for me, but I’ll be doing my best to catch up!
Credit for the beautiful photo goes to Verne Ho.
