[Flash Fiction] The Last Two Occupants

A loud whoosh rattled the derelict hut as strong gusts spit out two boys, tumbling over each other in incoherent shouts.

“Ge’offme!”

“Yougtoff!”

The tangle of limbs separated and two pairs of eyes scanned their new surroundings. Grimy rags hung on metal rafters and mismatched books lined the walls.

“Where are we?”

“Better question…how do we get out?”

The boys stared at each other through identical panicked faces. No doors. No windows. No way out. They yelped when a voice boomed around them.

“Welcome, Occupants 706 and 707. I had waited years for this day. At last, the final two.”

    1. I think, Chris, that you may the first (and so far only) person in support of Mr. Ominous Voice. That makes me very suspicious of you. *makes I’m-watching-you gesture with fingers*

      Thanks for reading 🙂

      1. Oh, I’m definitely someone you should keep an eye on. We Darksiders are a sneaky lot. Always creeping around doing nefarious things. Except on Sunday. We drink coffee and do crossword puzzles then. 😉

    1. Haha, that was the exact image that came to my mind writing that little part: two boys literally just on top of each other yelling xD

Thanks for the read and comment Amy! Maybe there’ll be another standalone sequel, who knows 😉
