“We’re going to lose our heads for this,” the cloaked wizard whispered to his companion as the two sneaked through the Forbidden Forest behind Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“Do lighten up, Nick, it’s just a harmless prank.”
“Stealing the school coat of arms is not what I would call a harmless prank!” Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington hissed back, momentarily dropping the Hogwarts emblem he was levitating in midair.
“Oy, careful with that! It’s a priceless artifact!”
Glaring at his companion, Sir Nicholas lowered the school crest to the grass. “Lucian, my momentary lapse of sanity has now passed. As a sign of our friendship, I will take tonight to my grave and you will consider my debt paid.”
Sir Nicholas turned to find himself face to face with a wall of large spiders, the hairs on their round bodies twitching and their beady eyes glassy with hunger. A jolt of pain shot into his neck and he thudded to the ground.
“Drat, I should’ve picked a different spell. I never was good at decapitation. Well, Nick, you were right, it seems you will take tonight to your grave.” Lucian waved his wand, levitating the school crest, and walked further into the Forbidden Forest.
Behind him, the spiders crowded around Sir Nicholas, licking the blood that flowed from his neck as his head lolled around, barely hanging on by half an inch of skin and sinew.
