[Flash Fiction] Suffocate

“How is it that you don’t know how to swim?!”

Coughing up water and desperately sucking in large gasps of oxygen, she barely managed to utter, “Shut…up…Fire Boy.”

Biting back his exasperated retort, he emanated heat from his arms to her soaking, shivering form, drying her white dress and wet hair. “Someone shoved you, you know. Someone who can crack open the ground, disappear through it, and then reappear through the ground somewhere else.”

“But why would he-”

“I said you’d make enemies hanging around me. My powers–when I lose control, it’s not exactly rainbows and unicorns.”

“Neither am I. Mess with fire, you get burned. Mess with air, and you suffocate.”

  1. Love this story line Jade. And you used the picture prompt well. Now another character with powers to disappear into cracks in the ground has a power and these two are going to have to watch out for this student. What an interesting school. Does every student have somekind of neat ability good or bad?
