Plan A: A 52 Word Microstory

She took a deep breath, filling her mind with the calming waters of the beach.

She exhaled slowly, trying to slow her heart’s rapid beating.

Deep breath in, thinking of sunshine—yeah, this wasn’t working. Her hands closed into fists and her eyes flashed.

Time for Plan B: Revenge.

Written for Writespiration #105: In exactly 52 words, describe one emotion without using the name of the emotion or telling the reader what it is. The goal is to let the reader guess (hopefully, successfully!)

Your turn, guys! Anyone want to venture a guess? Anyone at all? Don’t all volunteer at once now.

  2. I’m going to guess betrayal! Vengeance, like others, would be my second guess, but I’m not sure if we’re allowed to guess more than one. I can practically feel her fire breathing through my screen.

  3. I would have to be betrayed in the first degree to breathe fire like her – that’s it then – betrayal of the first degree demands revenge – i love plotting evil like this! Lovely idea Jade! Though I think you are too sweet for real harm!
