[Poetry] Storm Clouds

Rain—pitter patter—
On my window soothes my soul,
Thunder—boom ba boom—
Returning what the world stole,
In the storm clouds of his eyes.

  1. when I read this short poem and close my eyes. I can hear the first few drops of rain as they land in what ever exterior surface. The sound increasing as it rains more and more. Thunder then fallows to assure it’s presence. I love rain.

    • I would love to! To put it simply, think of a tanka as having a five lines broken down into these syllables: 5-7-5-7-7. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and so on. Tankas are traditionally written about nature, seasons, and love, if I remember correctly.

I hope you enjoy experimenting with this beautiful poetry form ^_^

  2. Hello Jade! This post allowed me to reflect on how a good thunderstorm can be so soothing. Living in OK thunderstorms can quickly turn into severe F5 tornados in a blink of an eye. In the more peaceful soothing storms I watch the rain and think of it as God’s tears washing my pain away. Great post!
