[Poetry] Are You Listening?

Can you hear me
All the words I cannot speak
Behind a strained smile sewed on
Like a porcelain doll.

Can you hear me
The muffled sobs in a corner
Because my tears would only
Burn them like acid rain. Continue reading “[Poetry] Are You Listening?”

[Writer’s Quote Wednesday] Home

no one leaves home unless home chases you
fire under feet
hot blood in your belly
it’s not something you ever thought of doing
until the blade burnt threats into
your neck
and even then you carried the anthem under
your breath
only tearing up your passport in an airport toilet
sobbing as each mouthful of paper
made it clear that you wouldn’t be going back.

[Flash Fiction] Home

He only had time to grab his son and run. Together, they ran with the clothes on their back and their photo identification cards stuffed hastily in his pocket. They didn’t even have time to say goodbye.

Then again, there wasn’t much to say goodbye to. Behind them was fire, merciless and consuming, devouring each house like a starving dragon. Behind them were bodies, riddled with bullets, each hole dripping bloody dreams and hopes. Behind them were the graves of his wife and daughter, the screams of their last moments forever playing in his ears like a broken record.

[Writer’s Quote Wednesday] Let Evening Come

Let the light of late afternoon
shine through chinks in the barn, moving
up the bales as the sun moves down.

as a woman takes up her needles
and her yarn. Let evening come. Continue reading “[Writer’s Quote Wednesday] Let Evening Come”

[Poetry] Another Argument, Another Regret

Another argument, another fight,
Another regret buried deep inside.
I face you each day with a defiant stare,
Yet every night, I muffle my cries.
More harsh words meant only to hurt,
I purposely do what I know you hate.
I face you each day without a care in the world,
Yet every night, I return to my broken state.
One day, for sure, the pain will fade,
I promise you, I will treat you right,
But for now all I can do is whisper “I’m sorry”,
As you sleep on through the night.

[Harry Potter Fanfic] The Rose

“Wow, you’ve outdone yourself, Scorpius. You’ve actually taken me to a place less romantic than our last date,” Rose Granger-Weasley looked around at the filthy tunnel under the bridge.

[Writer’s Quote Wednesday] Because I Could Not Stop For Death

Because I could not stop for Death –
He kindly stopped for me –
The Carriage held but just Ourselves –
And Immortality.

We slowly drove – He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility – Continue reading “[Writer’s Quote Wednesday] Because I Could Not Stop For Death”
