[Writer’s Quote Wednesday] The Year

What can be said in New Year rhymes,
That’s not been said a thousand times?

The new years come, the old years go,
We know we dream, we dream we know.

We rise up laughing with the light,
We lie down weeping with the night.

We hug the world until it stings,
We curse it then and sigh for wings.

We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We wreathe our brides, we sheet our dead.

We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
And that’s the burden of the year.

— Ella Wheeler Wilcox —

Welcome to 2019, everyone! I hope everyone’s year has started off on a good note. For this year’s first Writer’s Quote Wednesday, it seemed apt to share a new year poem. While it’s scary to think of what the new year might hold, and exhausting to think of having to survive all over again, I hope you’ll all find that 2019 is less a burden and more a blessing.

    1. Hi dearie Maria! Always happy to see you on this corner of WordPress ❤ I’m glad you liked the poem and yes, life is about balance, I think. Can’t have the good without the bad, or the tears without the laughter 🙂
