[Writer’s Quote Wednesday] Invitation

If you are a dreamer, come in
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer…
If you’re a pretender, come sit by the fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!

— Shel Silverstein —

As a little girl, there were two poets I loved to read: Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. The whimsicality of Dr. Seuss, the dark humor of Shel Silverstein, and the brilliantly invented characters and worlds of both stirred my own imaginations and eccentricities.

This week’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday is a Shel Silverstein poem for all the newcomers to my blog. To my new followers, to the bloggers who stumbled on my little corner of the blog-o-sphere by chance, and to the bloggers who discovered me after months of realizing we had mutual friends, come in! To the young writers and scared dreamers, to the struggling artists and lonely souls, come in! To those who want a place that embraces diversity, encourages kindness, and explores the World of Words, come in!

I look forward to meeting you.
