[Poetry] Until You Came Along

My life was planned,
Until you came along.
I knew every goal
Of every year,
Until you came along.

I never realized the joy
Of a little finger holding mine,
Until you came along,
Or the charm of a
Sweet, innocent smile,
Until you came along.

My life was mine
To live or to ruin,
Until you came along.
But now I’ll share
All my love with you,
Because you came along.

Written for this week’s World of Words prompt: pahiyom – a Bisaya word that means “a sweet smile”. World of Words is a weekly prompt I’m co-hosting with the lovelies Rosemarie of A Reading Writer and Maria of Doodle Scribbles.

The rules are simple:

  1. Every week, we’ll post a word from a different country in the world.
  2. Write a poem inspired by that word and use the hashtag #worldofwords. You can also tag us so we know to come and check out your poem!
  3. We’ll be sharing our favorites on Instagram, the main hub of our co-hosting duties, but depending on the response here on WordPress, I’ll share my favorites here too.

Looking forward to reading your poetry!
