[Poetry] Love, Hope, and Feathers

What do you love?

I love…rainy days, fuzzy socks,
A steaming mug of tea,
The way hope glimmers in one’s heart
And sparks warmth and bravery.

I love…reading books, writing words,
Adventures, dreams, and fantasy,
The way the wind beneath my feathers
Lifts me high above reality.

Good. Remember what you love,
And go change the world,
One heart at a time.
Start with yours.

Written for World of Words (prompt: प्यार, which is Hindi for “love”) and Spring Poetry Miracles (prompt: hope and feathers), two poetry prompts circulating in the Instagram-sphere.

World of Words, in particular, is a weekly prompt I’m co-hosting with the lovelies Rosemarie of A Reading Writer and Maria of Doodle Scribbles.

The rules are simple:

  1. Every week, we’ll post a word from a different country in the world.
  2. Write a poem inspired by that word and use the hashtag #worldofwords. You can also tag us so we know to come and check out your poem!
  3. We’ll be sharing our favorites on Instagram, the main hub of our co-hosting duties, but depending on the response here on WordPress, I’ll share my favorites here too.

Looking forward to all your lovely poetry!

  1. go change the world, one heart at a time…i love this sentiment, an unselfish approach and not wanting to have accolades just a fulfillment of life’s work -your poem resonates with me

    • Thank you Gina, as always, you see so much more in my poems than what is written in black and white. For most of us creative souls, though we hope the money and success will flow, I think we create for something more meaningful than an accolade 💜
