[Poetry] A Heart

I know what lurks beneath
The rippling muscles and silky hair,
I know what’s underneath
The sultry eyes and the way they stare.

He said I was too sweet,
Too trusting and too prim,
But at least I have a heart that beats
And I can’t say that for him.

[Poetry] Epiphany

I didn’t know it until that moment
When the words hung over us in midair,
Her dark eyes wondered if I meant it
And I realized then how much I cared.

I counted our heartbeats in that moment,
While the truth echoed between us clearly,
That the woman I love stood before me
And this woman I love would always have me.
